Santiago, Chile & Buenos Aires, Argentina

MAY 12th - 22nd, 2011

8 nights with air from LAX - $1,785

Here’s a terrific vacation destination that we were now able to get a very good rate on that will take us to these two great cosmopolitan cities. We’ll start off in Santiago, Chile for 4 nights where we will enjoy a diverse choice of tours ranging from taking walks along the Paseo Ahumada, where there are many street stalls selling trinkets and surrounded by Colonial buildings where the place is full of street painters and musicians who perform all sorts of concerts on the stage. Climbing up the exuberantly landscaped Santa Lucía hill - via a maze of swirling stairways, turrets and fountains - is an essential part of the Santiago experience. Your reward is sweeping views over the city. The narrow streets and village-like atmosphere of Bellavista, the capital’s arty, bohemian quarter, make for a great wander.

We’ll set up wine tasting tours and there are many excellent beaches about an hour and a half’s bus ride away.  Also within an hour from Santiago you can also find outdoor opportunities in the Andes like, hiking, nature, hot springs horseback riding, kayaking, rafting, and even skiing. Click here to read more about the tours in and around Santiago.

Then, we’ll fly just 2 hours to Buenos Aires for another 4 nights.

This complex, energetic, and seductive port city is considered “The Pearl” of South America. Buenos Aires has an intense cultural life where tango, long coffee klatches and football (soccer) are essential elements in its people daily lives. Portenos, as the multinational people of Buenos Aires are known, possess an elaborate and rich cultural identity. They value their European heritage highly—Italian and German names outnumber Spanish, and the lifestyle and architecture are markedly more European than any other in South America. We’ll enjoy fine dining, good wines and impressive entertainment on our journey. Buenos Aires is never more alive than it is at night. It is what you’d expect from a city that invented tango. Avenues come alive with people on their way to restaurants and theaters.

We’ll visit some of the many interesting museums, take walking and bicycling tours and enjoy one-day bus tours to some of the many nearby interesting towns. We can take a ferry to Colonia del Sacramento in Uruguay a small city was founded by the Portuguese in 1680. Its streets are very narrow and crooked and are covered with stones. Another tour will take us to La Boca with it’s tin houses that are painted a rainbow of colors, and muralists have turned the district’s side-streets into avenues of color. This will really be a wonderful trip that you’re not going to want to miss. Hotels have not been confirmed at press time so we will fill you in via our weekly updates but you know you can count on us to book only first class hotels. Our group rate for the 8-nights, airfare, 2 city tours and daily breakfast will be just $1,785. Remember, our dollar is very strong in these countries so all your dining and entertainment will be very cheap. With 3.6 Argentine Pesos to a dollar you will pay less than $5 for a steak dinner! So get on board for this great trip and get ready to live like a king! $200 deposit to sign up.
